1. Charging Your Mill
Each Latent Epicure Salt & Pepper Mill is powered by a 500 mAh lithium-polymer battery with fast-charging capability.
For best performance, fully charge your mill before first use using the supplied USB-C cable. A complete charge takes approximately 60 minutes or less.
1.2 Battery Indicator Lights
The LED indicator on the top of the mill displays the current battery level:
- 4 lights = 100% (fully charged)
- 3 lights = approximately 75%
- 2 lights = approximately 50%
- 1 light = approximately 25%
- 1 light flashing = below 25% — recharge soon
2. Filling & Adjusting
2.1 Hold the transparent acrylic chamber in one hand and the stainless-steel body in the other. Rotate the stainless-steel body until the arrow aligns with the unlock icon, then gently pull apart until you hear a click.
2.2 Fill the acrylic chamber with your choice of salt crystals or peppercorns. Reattach by aligning the arrow with the unlock symbol, then rotate until the arrow aligns with the lock mark and you hear a click, confirming it’s securely locked in place.
2.3 Adjusting Coarseness
Turn the black adjustment knob located on the underside of the mill. Rotating clockwise produces a finer grind, while counter-clockwise creates a coarser grind.
Note: The circular marks are directional guides only and do not represent fixed settings. Adjust until your preferred grind size is reached — this tightens or loosens the gap in the ceramic grinder mechanism.
2.4 Operating
Press the button on top to begin grinding. Release the button to stop.
3. Troubleshooting Tips
If your mill is not operating as expected, check the following:
- 3.1 Ensure the acrylic chamber is properly locked to the main body using the lock/unlock marks.
- 3.2 The fine/coarse adjuster may be set too tight, preventing the motor from turning. Loosen the adjuster slightly and try again.
- 3.3 The adjustment knob is connected to the drive shaft, which rotates with the motor during use. This is normal and does not affect the coarseness setting.
4. Cleaning & Maintenance
For optimum performance and long-term reliability, clean the drive shaft (the metal rod running through the centre of the acrylic chamber) every 2–3 refills.
4-Step Quick Clean
- Empty the spice chamber, then unscrew and remove the black fine/coarse knob underneath.
- Remove the ceramic grinding mechanism, ensuring the black plug remains inside, and take out the spring.
- Turn the spice chamber upright and pull the metal drive shaft upward through the black collar.
- Wipe the drive shaft clean of any spice residue, then reassemble all parts in reverse order.
5. Caution
Important: Never immerse the mill, charging port, or any of its components in water or other liquids.
